Wheels And Tires For An 2010 2500hd

Thinking about wheels and tires but not sure what size i can clear without rubbing. It has the 17''x7.5'' with 265/70/16's. I have already leveled out the truck with cranking and don't really want to go anymore but was wondering if 285/70/16 on 17x8's will clear without rubbing. Also I have a backspace option in the wheels I'm looking at of 4.5 or 4.75'' backspacing. I would like the wheels to stick out just a little more than the stock ones but don't want to rub either. Just looking for some input on this setup. Thanks Jason

285's are technically pushing it too much. I've seen 285's on 2500HD's with stock wheels, but I think that size is beyond recommended size for a stock wheel.

?????????????? says who... I have 285s on stock wheels on a 2500 hd right now and 285s on aftermarket wheels right now on another 2500hd... and in the past i had 305s on stock wheels on yet another 2500 hd... I say go with the 4.75 backspaced 17s with the 285s and drive it like you stole it.

For one, says GM. It is listed in my door jam on a sticker. And two, places that sell and change tires.
