99 Suburban Front Diff Noise?

Alright GMC super techs:) I am hearing a loud crunching noise...kinda like a box of rocks, coming from the front of my suburban. I know I have the all annoying pop noise from my transfer case, but this is from the front. How often do front differentials go out on suburbans? I have like 140k on it. I have owned 3 previous Silverado's and Sierra's, but I have never had differential problems. Please help.

Ok. I can understand the transfer of noise, but the noise does not sound like a worn transfer case shaft bearing. It sounds more like gear shatter if you know what im sayin. thanks
