I currently have a 2007 Silverado, NBS with the 5.3, and I am looking to trade it in on a 2010. Can anyone with a new 2010 with 5.3L, 3.08 gear ratio and 6sp transmission tell me how many MPG they are getting? Thanks , Jeff

I have a 2010 GMC 1500 with the 5.3 and 3.08 AFM 4x4 extended cab, flexfuel, got back from the coast yesterday, about 300 miles rt, mpg said 20.3 when I got back, has about 1500 miles on it so far. The speed limit on the back roads here is 55 and the cops just love to write you, so I pretty much hold it to the speed limit. DAve

I have the truck you describe (extended cab with 4x4) and about 5000 miles. On the turnpike at 70 mph and cruise-I get about 18.5. If I really baby it (55-60 mph) with not much town driving, can get up to 20 mpg. I can't imagine how one would have to drive to get the 23 listed on the sticker (I suspect you could expect another 1-2 mpg w/o 4x4).

Good luck-it is a nice truck.

2010 5.3,6sp,3.08 EXcab Z71 LTZ with extang trifecta with 16,000 miles

Just got back from a trip to the shore. Ohio and PA turnpike, up and down all kinds of elevation changes.

Speed didn't drop much below 80

Truck full of stuff for the trip and 3 people.

A/C on entire trip and remote start at pretty much every stop.

Average MPG for the trip was 19.8.

mpg will vary with the person pushing on the pedal.

My 2010 5.3L SLT Z71 E. Cab 3.42 is sticking right at 18.6 mpg at 2,800 miles. That's not a 1 time check but an average over those 2,800 miles.

Only about 400 miles have been a steady cruise driving 60mph max, mostly short trips of 20-50 miles or less.

In my area its all 2-lane blacktop mostly rural.

looks like the last 2 posters have 3.42s and the iron block 5.3L. Aluminum motor saves about 80 lbs and the XFEs have a few other mods to improve mileage.

I'm wondering what lowering the truck 2" would do to mileage?

Just curious...what are you averaging with your '07?

It seems like most people with the 5.3/6sp/3.08 combo are getting around 1 mpg better than my '08 with the 5.3/4sp/3.73 combo. I guess I expected a little more of an increase. Regardless, the mpg's reported are pretty damn good for the trucks like this.
