Bluetooth Vcim Programming In 07 Yukon Results

I replaced the "old" VCIM in my 07 Yukon with a new Bluetooth VCIM. The Bluetooth works flawlessly. I do have a constant red light on my rear view mirror and the OnStar does not work. I took the vehicle in to a local GM dealer to 'rid' the red light issue. After 3 hours of head scratching attempts via a scan tool and support from GM Techs somewhere, the technician could not activate the Ostar. GM said it is not possible and never will be because of compatibilty issues with the new VCIM and GM's software for the old VCIM. The best part to this story was when all was done the dealer did not charge me a thing. So, those of you who have had the green light initiated with a new VCIM via programming at your local GM dealer, consider your self "very" lucky.

John, you might want to take a bit of time to read through the many threads a lot of us have had on this issue; you might find them a worthwhile read.

I assure you I read every one. I exhausted all the avenues on my part. I called OnStar; no luck. The dealer tried for three hours with a a computer hooked up to my vehicle; no luck. The dealer called GM tech support and was told because of software incopatibilty I would never ever have OnStar. The dealer had one individual search for 2 1/2 hours looking for any online service bulletin that would guide them to resolve my issue. So, if you know of a way to fix this let me know and I will let my dealer know. The dealer tried very hard to fix this.

The simple fact is that it can be done, and we know this because there are individuals out there who do successfully have near-fully functioning swaps. We do not however have an exact procedure that is distributable and repeatable except to say "persistence and the luck of the draw are key."

It just depends on how badly you want it and how much time you can and are willing to invest.
