Straight Pipes For A 97 Sierra 1500

i want to put straight pipes on my 1997 sierra 1500 short bed. i was talking to my buddy who is an import guy and he said i may have to lift the truck a bit. i was planning on throwing a 3 inch on it anyway but was curious if this was inportant enough to take care of before the exhaust. i cant seem to find any online either.. any ideas?

All you have to do is cut the mufflers off and put a straight piece of pipe in its place. Low and behold, the magical straight pipes that all the rednecks like.

I can't imagine why your friend would associate installing exhaust with the need to lift the truck. As silverado said it is fairly simple. I have that set up on my 94' 1500 and my 2005. I had it on an 03' as well. No mufflers, 3" pipes via a y-pipe. Pipes run straight out the back with 3.5" tips.

Lift for straight pipes?? But like the other guys said, if you want true duals you need new tailpipes bent up, or just a y pipe into a piece of straight pipe
