Adding "tapshift" Feature To Gmt900 2008 Avalanche

I go down some pretty large hills on the daily commute and I like to use engine braking to keep from riding the brakes down these 45 - 50 mph hills. So, I shift the tranny into 2nd with the column shifter & then a couple of notches back up to OD when back on the level. I noticed the new trucks with the 6 speeds have the "tapshift" button on the shifter handle. I am pretty sure that the GMC Denali's also had this on the '07 - '09 4 speeds (4L60E)

 

Question is this: If I get the trans shifter lever with the tapshift, can I have the BCM and/or the TCM reflashed for this feature? Anybody done this mod? Harness issues?

I think thats a feature of the 6-speed and not programming.

is it that you don't like to move the shifter into 3,2,1? You just want the button that does it?
