1998 Chevy 3500 350 To 454 Swap

I picked up a nice 1998 chevy 3500 4x4 that has a bad 5.7 motor in it. I am having a hard time deciding what motor to put in this, I am looking at either putting a 383 sb or 454 bb in it. I know if I put the 383 in I would just need to adjust the pcu on a dyno. My question is would a 454 bolt up to everything in the truck or would I have to get a diffrent bell housing? Would I have to get a new computer for the fuel injection? Any and all info would be great. I am looking into making this truck into a work and play truck I would be using it for snow plowing in the winter and truck pulling in the summer. If I build a 383 I want to try and get around 400 hp that is why I am wondering if I would be better off putting a BB in if it will not be to hard. Thanks guys.

How about a 12 valve cummins, that way you don't have to worry about all that computer stuff and you can make a ton of tourqe out of those with just a few simple mods. If i was in your situation i would consider the cummins very hard.

Wont be hard to put the Big Block in it at all. You'll have to change the connectors over but not much else. You already have a 4L80E transmssion presumably.

Will I need a new harness and pcu for a 454 or will the one in my truck for the 5.7 work?
