Exchanging 18" Wheels On Ebay

I found this link on Ebay to exchange your factory wheels with Permachrome.

Has anyone on here done this? It seams a little pricey with shipping but I like the look of these wheels and if they were in chrome then they would be perfect to match the other chrome items on my truck. They also warrentee them for 5 years or 100,000 miles.

 

I've already had aftermarket before and did not like them...

They are not really chrome, they have a base powder coat and then a clear coat afterwards. Both these coats of powder coating will create a non smooth finish. It may shine, but the reflection will not be true, sort of like a wavy orange peel finish. If you have ever seen powder coated objects, you will know what I mean.

Interesting point... Thats why I am trying to see if anyone has these and could show us a picture with them on. I am starting to get the feeling that this could be a waste of money.

The finish they use allows them to grind, weld imperfections and then completely cover the work with the new finish.

You will have the impression the wheel looks factory new.

I've been curious about this "permachrome" too. I've got a set of GMC 20" that I wanted to chrome, but hesitant about actual chroming since Illinois likes to put a LOT of salt on the roads during the winter and every chrome plating place I have found voids the warranty if you even drive on a road that has been salted.

 

I was seoiusly considering it as a viable option.

You could take a look at the seller's feedback and message the people who have already bought the items to see how they have been holding up and if they still feel the same about the stuff they bought. I've done that a few times in the past and it gives you some great insight by reaching people who have actually bought and used their products.

 

It actually looks like a pretty good process based on the description and pics. I've bought a lot of chrome stuff for my Harley and it seems sooner or later it is going to get a "pit" or more after time and use.
