Aftermarket Lift Kit And Suspension

Recommended Posts

I have recently purchased a 2001 2500 HD crew cab 4x4. It has a Rancho suspension system and lift kit on it - I'd say 4 - 6 inch lift - and I am interested in getting it back to OEM. I don't know a thing about lift kits for I have never had a desire to change the factory engineering on any of my trucks. Any suggestions on how to get this truck back to it's original design? How involved is this? I guess I need to find a market for the Rancho system and a market for the OEM parts. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Just wondering why you bought a truck with a lift with the intention of putting it back to stock... Anyway, I'm pretty sure you are going to have to do quite a bit to get it back to stock, and I personally don't think it would be worth the money.

It could be done but there were cross members that were cut when the kift was put on, that would have to be replaced, lots of time with a welding machine.

Usually on those trucks a lift is a one way trip.

The most feasable way that I could think of would be to find someone that wants to buy your lift, take all of the lift componets off of your truck, work with that person with installing the lift and get the frame pieces that he/she cuts off of their truck to go back on yours. It would be a ton of work but it could be done.

You would have faired better if you would have purchased a truck with no lift if that is what you wanted, my advice would be to learn to live with the lifted truck.

Go online to Rancho's site and download the instructions that would have come with your lift and you can see exactly what modifications were done to accomidate the lift.

taking the lift off that truck is just as easy, if not easier, than putting the lift on.

you'll want to call rancho to get the part numbers for the differential brackets needed to return it to stock.

I did not realize that Rancho sold those parts, cool, that would make it a lot easier.
