I noticed several months ago that occasionally, my steering wheel would "jump" when making a turn; just enough for you to think 'what was that'.

Well 2 days ago I turned and I thought the steering column had disconnected from the steering gear; really loose steering. Also, the truck started vibrating (steering wheel pulsating which felt like something in the front end) to the point that I thought something was broken or disconnected.

I inspected all the mechanical steering components; everything seems to be tight. Also, I flushed/changed my p/s fluid which was burnt.

I have done some reading and think it might be the steering wheel speed sensor?

I disconnected the sensor (attached to the steering column) and did not have the problem. Wonder if it is ok to drive the truck with this sensor disconnect?
