Any heating guys on here that can help with some advice. I am looking to add a zone valve to my forced hot water system. I want to separate the first floor and the second floor. I am very handy and could do it myself. The only problem is, I need to know if its possible. I don't want to screw up the system and damage anything. PM me and I can send you some pics of my boiler and explain the set up.

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can depending on how the system is currently piped. If it is a single pipe system (not typical) you would not be able to but if it is a two pipe system with a separate supply and return you may just be able to install the valve on the riser between the floors. If you have a loop on the first floor and a loop on the second floor this will be an easy fix.

I will do my best to help you out, we are studying hydronic systems now in my apprenticeship classes. I personally have never installed a residential system just commercial but they are the same concept.
