2007 Gmt 900 Light Flickering Problem

Hello, i have a 2007 silverado 2500HD (i posted in this section because it seems to get more traffic then the HD area) My truck just started having all (every bulb in the truck) start flickering/dimming when you first start the truck for that day, it seems to last about 3 to 5 min then goes away. if you shut the motor off so the lights are only on the battery all is normal. im sure im not the only one to have thise issue, please let me know what you have found and if by some awesome chance it was covered under the 5yr/100 warranty, i am out of the 3/36

Sounds like a bad ground to me.

i may be wrong but if it was a bad ground, it wouldnt consistently go away after 3 to 5 min ang it would make no difference if the truck were running or not, if it was a bad ground i would think it would act up running off the battery only circuit too

What your voltage when you start the truck. I think you will see that it takes a few minutes before the alternator runs it up. My theory (and I'm sticking to it) is that once the voltage comes up it is enough to compensate for the bad ground and when not running the voltage is also a little higher as the battery does not have the engine load on it before the alt. picks up.

I would get a multimeter and start checking voltages. Start with a circuit flickers and watch what it does. Then move to the battery and the alternator.

I believe there is a TSB for a loose ground/battery cable or something.

It was related to the battery going dead prematurely due to it not charging because of this.
