Need a new Bed

Wife had a wreck in my 2001 GMC SLE Ext Cab Short Box fleetside.

The body shop is going to whack off the whole right hand side and weld on a new one.  I would rather just find a new box.

I am sure that somewhere in this world, there is a business that puts work bodies on trucks, that has a plethora of relatively new beds just waiting for me to need one.

Anybody know where they are?   Davis Auto in Iowa so far the only one I can find!

CapnDean (@aol.com) if you got one!

I suppose even a bed from a truck that was hit in the front would be fine as long as the cab wasn't pushed into it.

I think most utility beds are put in place of long beds...

I am located in Gulfport, MS.  I need a Pewter colored fleetside short box.

I have found a new box at a junkyard...But it is white.

Basically...If I can find a Pewter one that'll do, I can save $$ and have an un-repaired, un-repainted box.  If I have to paint it, then it's cheaper to let the body shop fix the existing one.

Why was the wife driving!  Yeah...get the flame suit out alright!  I tell everybody that I rented it to her......

My wife has a 1994 Honda Assport.  Yup...that's what I call it.  I hate it, she loves it.  She has been due for a new Yukon for about 3 years now.  We can afford it too....but she won't part with that V-6, 5 speed, rebadged Isuzu.

In defense of the vehicle...it has been a good one, fuel economy okay, very few repairs etc...  It just drives and rides like an Isuzu pickup truck or a haywagon. If you wanna accelerate you gotta TROUNCE it.

It burned out the "center carrier bearing" and I had to order the parts....so she took me to work & kindly wrecked my truck on the way to pick me up that afternoon.

What a deal huh?  Get to get dirty fixing her wagon while I look at the caved in side of my truck.

I hate to tell you this, but when I ordered the fiberglass cap for my truck, there were 6 different shades of GM Pewter to choose from.  So I guess if you find a bed you have a 1 in 6 chance of the color matching well.
