I got a 05 Sierra with 5.3 (133k) with cracked castech heads. My castings are 706. I can get a used set of 862's for $100. Is there any difference in the 862 and 706? Will they work? Swaping heads this weekend, any useful tips for head swap? THANKS

yes they will work fine! 706 heads they have triangles cast into them under the exhaust ports and the 862's dont they both aluminum head with 71cc chambers. The 862 casting was used from '99-'04, but the 706 showed up on some engines in '04, too. The 862 casting came with and without the recess on the edge of the deck surface, so rebuilders need to make sure they use the right head gasket when installing one of these heads
