Battery Trays X2

Ok, call me stupid....................Thank you. On my 2010 Silverado LT my battery is located on the passenger side at the back corner (near the firewall). But there is also a battery tray up at the front of the truck on the drivers side, like usual. Why are there 2 trays? I'm thinking in case you want to add more stuff that requires electric power you can add another battery, but I have never seen this before. Thanks in advance. Now go ahead and let me have it!!!!!

Thats what its for,Dual batteries.....dual battery option on gas trucks, standard dual batteries on diesel trucks.

OK, Thanks. Had just never seen it before on any of my previous trucks.

Yeah,If you had any GMT800 or even GMT400 trucks, the second tray was never there, although some '97-up GMT400 trucks did have the second tray on the driver side,'96-early '97s had a tool storage compartment where the second battery would be.

I had a '97 K1500 that had the storage box on the driver's front. Since I have a spot for one now is there something by sombody that could do the same?

That box was handy!

I also had a '97 K1500,But I ordered it with the dual battery option,so no storage box for me!

Some of the guys on here have added a storage box of some sort to the GMT900 trucks,I'm sure of you do a search you might find some posts on it.

I would add one myself, but I have the ballast sitting there for my HID's,plus I have the sliding-side tool box that attaches to my cargo management system in the bed that I carry stuff in.

NOCO Group U1 battery box ordered from batterymart.com - less than $25 delivered.

Bolt it in and fill it up - tools, jumper cables, what ever.

Great idea! I was wondering about that space, too. Now that I know I am getting a battery box! Been here 2 days, and alrady have my first great idea! Can I consider this my 1st mod? :)

While we are on this has anyone thought of or found a plastic tray to put under the battery along the fire wall? I can see the consequence over time of the battery interacting with the steel underneith.

I zip-tied one of these little gems to the secondary battery tray. I keep the coiled hose and accessories in the rear seat map pocket.

I have a battery box as pictured above, I have a 12v compressor and plug kit stored in there.

My jumper cables are heavy duty so they wouldn't fit, but at least I got some of the things that were under my back seat out of the cab yet still handy.
