Opinions On Two Mud Tires

I'm looking at two different mud tires and both seem to get good reviews. The first is a Dick Cepek Mud Country

305/60/18 and the other is a Firestone Destination M/T 285/65/18. Anybody have any experience with either of these??

Their both about 32 1/2 inches tall but the Cepek is a little wider. I'm only going to have these on for a few months

during waterfowl season. I just bought some almost new 18'' chevy wheels for 300 dollars to mount them on and then I'll

put my 275/55/20's back on after season.

Any info appreciated.

Well you're probably going to rub with the 305/60/18. Especially if you're using them off-road. I love those tires and wish they made them in a 285/70/17 I'd have some. But you're probably going to run into problems there.

I'd be safe and go with the 285/65/18 Firestones. They are good tires from what I've heard and I know they will pull through some mud.

Well, I've decided on the Destination M/T's but my local guy can't get them. Apparently their on national backorder, per the local Firestone dealer he tried to get to order them as his 3 warehouses he gets his tires from don't have any.

Anybody that has a line on a set of 285/65/18's feel free to let me know. I saw one place that seems to have them because when I added them to my cart there were no red flags that came up. I'm going to try to get ahold of them Monday to see if they actually have them. Any info appreciated.

Ordered some Micky Thompson MTZ's. Case closed.

Any reason for picking the MTZs over the Cepek? I'm debating what to go w/ myself. Other than 2 sets of Gumbo Mudders (33" & 38") back in the 80s & a set of crappy Kumho Mud Kings that lasted a year in the 90s, I run BFG M/Ts. Looking @ the new tread on the BFGs & it doesn't look much different than the OEM Bridgestones.

The Mickeys & Cepeks are 2 of my choices.

Looking @ the Destinations & their tread pattern looks like a good mud tire. I imagine they should be a decent tire if Firestone/Bridgestone is selling it.
