Part # Needed And Gm Info

I need the correct part # to replave the evaporative vent cannister on my 08 5.3 2wd 4 door (short doors in back). Is there any proof that the older GM part # 25932571 will work on my vehicle and cut off that stupid light so I can get an inspection and buy my tags. Also is there anywhere to buy it other than the dealer and is there any internet dealers that discount parts like some Harley Davidson dealers do. Now for the rest of the story. I read on the forum where my truck has an emission's warranty that might cover my repair. The post said to call GM customer service to find out. I called and this is what happened. I spoke to a rep and told her that my truck was reading P0449 and P0445 codes and that I was told that it might be under warranty. After giving her the Vin # and all the info about my tk, she responded that I indeed have an emissions warranty through 80k miles and that if the dealer read the codes and it showed up that the codes were not caused by something else that it would be covered. I told her I already knew that it was the EVC and she replied again that I would have to have a diagnostic check run and it would cost me for the check if the cause for the codes was something other than what I described. However, if it all read correctly that it would be warranteed. So like a dummy I took it to the dealer and the tech handling my truck calls to tell me that the code is correct and it is indeed the EVC. He then asks if I have an extended warranty and I said no, it is covered under the emissions warranty. He corrected me saying that the emissions warranty covers the catylitic converter and a ccouple of other things. I responded to him that I already knew what was causing the codes and that I explained it to the rep and was told that if it was not caused by another problem it would be covered. He stated that I should call her supervisor because she should have told me the right information to begin with. That day, she called me back to see if I was happy with my service and i explained it all to her and her response was she was going to call the dealer and see what she could work out. She then polled me about who services my truck, how much was I told the repair would be and other questions about my truck. Then she says that I would have to wait 5 minutes on hold while she contacted the dealer which I had to refuse because I was at work. She then said it could be the next day before she could get back to me but called @ 3 hrs later and left a messsage that she would call back monday. Now here's what ticks me off about the whole thing, I think she is going hit me up about buying an extended warranty, based on the cost of my repair and the fact that I am now informed that I am not covered for this repair. I feel like I got baited into taking my truck in for a diagnostic that I did not need with the feeling I would get warranty coverage. Now I am out a cool $105.46 for them to tell me what I already knew. What a rip-off.
