I've been shopping for a truck for at least 4 months now. I was dissapointed i didn't get a 2010 before our local inventory ran out. Now with the deals and rebates for the 2011 i got everything set up to the point where all i have to do is give the sales manager a call, drive in and sign the paperwork.

Whats worked out right now is a 2011 CC SLE Sierra with the only option being the power tech package. MSRP is 34,010 and he priced it at 32,600. This price already includes the 1495 discount for the power tech package. Then he gave me the regular GM rebate of 2500, the down payment assistance or 2005 when financing through Ally, and the 1k for household member owning a toyota. This totals for 5505 in rebates not counting the power tech package discount because its already built into the MSRP. Right now i've got 0 down with a APR of 6.79 through Ally. The payments come out to be 495 a month for 72 months with all taxes and fees included.

I was thinking of just getting a SL or a LS Silverado but the price only drops about $50-60 a month in payments. I see paying the extra 50 bucks a month as a better deal then the regular SL/LS. What do you guys think.

The deal was worked out over the phone. It wasn't a problem at all to get the truck to this price. The only hang up i have is with the mailer from GM. This is the "Exclusive Private Offer" mailer thats $1500. Anyone ever use the mailer and actually got the discount? Would be great to get another $1500 off but when i showed it to the sales manager he said that it was just a flyer informing customers of what the rebates are.

To be honest I think that interest rate is a rip off, and by the time you pay for that truck it is going to be wore out. I bought a certified used and got a 2.9% rate through Ally a few years ago. Almost paid for, and wore out. IMO 72 months of a car payment is insane.

yes i know 72 months is a long time, its all i can really afford right now. I'd like to do it in 48 months but then i'd be probably living in it says the "boss". The APR is what the sales manager said i qualified from Ally, honestly i'm surprised that it came out that low, i expected it to be somewhere around 8% with my credit. Sales manager told me to take the $2005 from financing with ally, then after two month try to refinance it with a local credit union for a lower APR.

as for the flyer, i shot him a email, telling him that it has a certificate number and everything. still waiting for a reply.

In Wingnut's Great Big Book of Finance; Vol III, that means you can't afford it. But I don't know your situation, your history, etc. So I won't say that :dunno:

I'd shop around for interest rates. I just bought my Avalanche, USED, and the interest rate was below 3%. Went to several banks, and all three of our credit unions.

shop around, I refinanced about 2 months ago, for 48 months however, and got 2.9 at US Bank. Maybe the shorter term gets a better rate. If your credit sucks, that may be as good as it gets for the next vehicle. Then I guess you have to ask yourself how bad you really want this and what you're willing to give up in order to have this truck. I'd shop around, not like they have 0%.

72 months is a long time. If you seriously don't mind a car payment then go for it. But my recommendation would be to find something a few years old. If taken care of it will be just as good and knock off a lot of money. I'm not ashamed to say I have never bought a new vehicle, but I have bought a six year old mint condition silverado with on 53,000 miles on it and paid less than half it's original price.

However, I do disagree with the statement that the truck will be wore out in 72 months. You would have to be really loading up the miles each year to wear it out that quick. If taken care of you should get 200,000 miles out of one pretty easy.
