What Should I Have The Dealer Look At?

Hi Everyone,

As the title says my Certified Preowned 12,000 mile warranty is expiring in about 700 miles.

I have a 2006 Sierra Vmax 6.0 SLT w/ 50,xxx miles.

Truck runs great and I am very pleased with it but with the "peace of mind" coming to an end I want to make sure I do everything I need to prior to that. I have had the tailgate bezel, passenger heat seater, and transfer case module replaced under warranty since I picked it up at 39xxx so nothing big really.

I feel a slight "play" when I turn and hit a bump or something but its not bad just not perfect; anything I should have them look at spefically?

I mostly want to know what experiences you guys have had out there and any good advise if you were to do it again. I'm not too worried about anything in particular just want to make sure I do my homework as I look to have this truck for many years to come.

I have to take it in anyway as I noticed that my brake lights seem to be a little off. I noticed it as I had my dirtbike in the back while it was dark out so I could see the reflection of the 3rd brake light on the bike. The truck was in Drive and I had the brake pedal pressed all the way (100%) and the light was illuminated as expected. Now when I slighty let up on the brake (so at about 70-80%) I could see it go dark meaning the light was out and if I pressed the pedal down it would go on again. So long story short the pedal was always engaged but the lights would go out depending on slight movements in pressure which doesn't seem right at all. What's everyone think?

I do regular oil changes with Mobil 1 filter and 5w-30 and plan on changing all the other fluids in the truck over the next 3-4 months.

Any suggestions, stories, advice you all have would be appriciated and like I said I'm not too worried about anything but there's too much knowledge out there not to ask.

Thanks!

Check the drain plug on your axle(s) for excess metal particles. You should see some fine particles but anything noticeably large requires investigation.

Check ball joints/tie rod ends/wheel bearings for out of spec play.

I was just about to post something similar to this too as my original factory warranty is running out in about 3000 miles.

Maybe we can get Don to weigh in on the subject?! Or Matt? Thanks guys?

My truck has to go into the dealer in the next week!
