Picked Up My New Sierra Hd This Week!

I ordered this truck in mid September and it arrived this week- 2011 Sierra 2500 HD arrived Midnight Blue Metallic with Ebony interior. V-8 gas, SLE preferred package, 4x4, 40/20/40 split front bench seat, heavy duty towing package, heated camper mirrors. 4.10 rear, 6" step assist, 160 amp alternator, 5th wheel wiring, underseat storage, , GMC splash guards, 18" AT tires on polished aluminum rims. Going to get the bed Line-X'd and I am debating on whether to line-x the rear wheel wells or just buy the plastic protectors?

Truck looks very sharp and have gotten alot of compliments already!! This former Tundra owner is back with GM!

nice truck i think its time for me to get one even though im kinda in love with my 8.1L and dont really wanna go diesel.... i like the idea of fords new 6.2 in their super dutys just cause GMs 6.0s a little boring and i just wouldnt buy a dodge for whatever reason.... anyway sorry for the ramble lol.... you do have a very nice truck there and i hope you take good care of it especially if your in the NE and have those heavily salted roads in the winter.... GOOD LUCK

Bear, the blue looks good. When I looked @ my truck it was cloudy & the blue looked more like black.

I'd get them line-x'd,the plastic fender liners collect to much crap under them,and stuff tends to "lay" and get trapped at the bottom.

Living in the Midwest...winter is just around the corner and I don't want to think about all the salt getting on this truck! I am strongly considering doing the line-x wheel wells...I think it will look nicer and with the hard winters help protect the truck more.

I saw a rely that someone has a 8.1L gas'r...when did GM stop making those?

You bought the truck I was looking for when they had the $5000 rebates on 2010s. I looked within 400 miles of Western PA and couldn't find a 2010 like that and would lose the rebate by ordering. I ended up with the same truck but in black. I had a 96 K1500 stepside in midnight blue with a silver bottom prior to the 2500 HD. Loved the truck but the body started rusting and I needed something that I didn't have to worry about taking a 2,000 mile trip in. Ended up keeping it since they were only going to give me $3500 on trade. I've since been offered $6500 for the truck which is pretty good for a 14 year old truck with 140,000 miles.

 

That is one really sweet truck. Get a good coat of wax on her before winter.

Yep get them done the same time as you get the bed sprayed. I just got my wheel wells done last week. I never thought about doing them until I read about it on here. I got my truck in Sept. Getting the bed sprayed was the first thing that I had done to it. It cost me $200 to have the wells sprayed. The guy said it would of been cheaper if I would of had it done when they sprayed the bed, as they basically have to re-tape everything.

Yesterday I also ordered almost the same truck in stealth gray. I also will be getting rid of my 07 Tundra. I am a little concerned at the lack of power with the GMC 6.0

How do you feel about going from the Tundra to 3/4 ton? Only reason I am switching is to add a plow to the truck and I knew the Tundra would not handle a big plow too well.

Gm really improved the brakes on these trucks, I was pleasantly surprised with this . I ordered the 3.73 gears, that may be the reason for the seemingly lack of performance as well as the extra weight of the truck compared to a 1/2 ton.

Not concerned at all about the "loss" of power...I don't think 21hp (381 hp vs 360 hp)will make a difference one bit. The advantage I get from a 3/4 ton as far as frame, suspension, payload etc. surpasses the 21hp difference. There is more to pulling than just horsepower. I pull a 8,000 lb (dry weight) travel trailer and there are six of us in the family so when we are all loaded down I will feel a whole lot safer going down the highway in the Sierra. Pulling this camper by myself in the Tundra, I really felt it back there...I wouldn't take it out on the highway with the whole gang.

The 6.0 is a good motor and the changes GM made to the frame...you will have no problem with putting a snow plow on the front of it. Now that fall is upon us and I just winterized our camper, I can't wait until spring to pull the camper.

Does the 2011 2500HD include Bluetooth for hands free phone? I looked at the "spec.'s page" and it is very confusing.. and somewhat incomplete related to information about the radio/stereo systems..
