Adding Curb Tilit Mirrors

I have a 2010 SLE GMC Sierra Crew Cab. Is it possible to upgrade/swap the side mirrors to the curb tilt mirrors that are standard on the SLT? If yes, Can anyone point me to a thread on this topic?

im sure its possible as guys do swaps for just about everything. but ill be honest with you. my truck has them and theyre annoying as hell. it would be nice if you could just hit the mirror button and aim it down for the pass side so that say when someone who isnt used to the large vehicle is driving it, but other than that i use my mirrors to back up all the time and having them aimed down is an inconvenience. try them out before you spend the money on the swap

Why would you want this useless feature?? I have this option, but cannot see the point in it and never use it. Actually very annoying...

"Annoying" might depend on the year of the rig. We have a 2004 Tahoe and the curb tilt was never quite right, no matter how it set it.

I assumed that when I bought my new 2010 Silverado that it was still an annoying/useless feature. NOT SO, I set the passenger side mirror to tilt for a curb view in reverse and it is amazingly useful.

Quite possibly, they perfected the curb view in the last six years. I'd bet on that ... I surely love the curb view on our 2010 Silverado.

PS. On the strength of this, I tried to successfully reset our 2004 Tahoe's side mirror. And FAILED ... it's still hopeless and useless. Great little truck, but the curb view tilt still SUCKS. ST

Well that sucks that you can't get it to work right, I too only have my passenger mirror set to tilt.

I've found about 50+% of the time I'm trying to not hit a curb when backing up... that's why I want this feature.

Does anyone know of a write up how to install them? I'd "assume" it's not a plug and play install. Based on the fact that you an turn this feature on/off, I'd clearly have to make a visit to the dealership to get them to upload the program.

So what additional wiring has to be installed?

I have the park tilt an had to turn them off they are annoying as hell!!! Best thing you can do is install a back up camera there is nothing better than that. I rarely turn around when backing up. I also have limo tint all the was around including over the factory tint so backing at night used to be a nightmare until i installed the cam!

Yes you can add them, but No you wont find a dealer willing to do the necessary programming required. Your BCM is not set to handle the tilt and I don't think you will find a dealer willing to change your settings.

you could install the mirrors and just put them onto a 3 way toggle switch. flick it one way and they aime down. flick it the other and they tilt up. might work might not. maybe someone smarter can chime in. but it would save you the trouble of having to get the programming done. or im sure if you do some searching theres an aftermarket company some where that must make a kit for tilting mirrors.
