Weird Cold Weather Noises

So the temps are dropping fast, its around 30 degrees here and my truck is making weird noises..from what i gathered most other people i know with gmt-800s have similiar noises..anyway tonight i went to start my truck(it was a heavy frost) and i hear this metalic unspooling sound under the hood, it went away within 30 seconds then when in gear i get this throbbing sound throughout the cab, then on light take offs from lights i get this pulseing through the dash...any ideas? the trucks quiet as ever when its warmer out

i knew i should of named this thread "borla or corsa"
LMAO, Sorry man.... NO similar prob here, but I have a GMT900 not an 800. Sounds like an interesting problem though. (not one I would like to have) I would like to know if you figure that one out though.... I work on all my own vehicles, and that sounds like quite the conundrum. So for my own reference; let me know what you find!

My advice...keep it in a heated garage or turn up your radio a little louder.

Everything makes different kinds of noises until they get up to operating temps, especially when the weather gets down to freezing temps. Just take it easy on it until it warms up a little, and if anything is seriously wrong, it will show up sooner or later. If your real worried about it, leave it outside at your favorite mechanics shop overnight and let him listen to it...he'll probably tell you the same thing.

The piston skirts haven't warmed up enough to expand. That'll make some funky knocking/slapping/generallybad noises on a cold start. GM motors have gone hundreds of thousands of miles doing this.

I've also noticed when cold, the gauge cluster on my 03 made noises. Never caused a problem, but none-the-less noisy.

i let the truck idle until the thermo opens, its almost like the trans is cold and making noises  but i figured the fluid warmed with the engine turning the pump...the dash is whats weird, its like a throbbing in the dash at a slow take off like a belt sander going across it
