Just Ordered My Leer 100xq

The cap is in and will be installed before Thanksgiving. I had some 3M protective film custom cut along the bed rails to protect the paint from rubbing off. I also had the tailgate handle/bezel painted. Here's a few pre-cap pics.

OK, so I went to get my cap installed yesterday, and it looked terrible. There was a large area at the back of the passenger side window that just wasn't right. The dealer is sending it back to Leer next week, but he said based on the pictures he has sent the Leer rep., there is a high likelihood that they will begin building one right away rather than wait to see the returned unit. If so, I should have another crack at this next week.

That sucks! It looks like that bottom edge is warped. I can understand a small variation (after all it's fiberglass) but that looks pretty obvious. Mine is pretty straight but has some small fluctuations.

Too bad it didnt come to you in great shape but from all the dealers i have talked to, Leer seems to be the best for customer satisfaction and warranty work. Hopefully they take care of you sooner than later.

I haven't heard anything from the dealer, although he said he would call on Monday. I've been extremely busy at work and I can't seem to fit in time to follow up with him. Seeing as tomorrow is Saturday, I will get some answers then... unless I'm having too much fun sleddin' in all this snow we're supposed to get tonight.

OK. Thought you would have had the new one on by now. I know how excited you were to begin with. Have fun with the snow, don't have that down here in southeast Georgia. Keep us updated.

Yeah, I was very excited until I actually saw the thing on my truck. After seeing the fit of that particular cap, I am seriously second guessing my decision to buy it in the first place. I will reserve my final judgement until I see what is done to correct this very disheartening experience.

I think you'll be happy in the long run. After you posted your pic of the defect, I went out and looked down both sides of mine to see how it looked... It's nice and even on both sides. Sure there are tiny variations (it is fiberglass) but nothing like what yopu posted.

I bet the next one is A OK.
