To Those Who Complain About Idle Noises...

When I bought my 2000 Silverado (V6) 4 years ago it was never whisper quiet at idle, but it wasn't loud or annoying either. Lately (in past 6 months) Its developed a rattling sound and the engine almost seems like its stumbling. Today I was cleaning the truck and was looking underneath when I noticed the rubber hangers holding on the exhaust were well worn, cracked and extremely loose. I purchased a 1$ gear clamp and tightened the exhaust pipe support to the metal hanger part.. if you understand what i mean... if someone needs additional info Ill take pics.

 

I drove off thinking it might help some, but when I got to a stoplight I honestly thought my engine died because there was ZERO noise and ZERO stumble. I figure the stumble was just my imagination and was actually caused by the rattling and excessive movement of the exhaust pipes.

 

Some of you guys might know about this "fix".. but for those who don't, I hope you appreciate this post.

 

btw. my 4.3l has 170,000 Miles and has 2$ champion spark plugs.. and is as quiet as ive ever seen any vehicle at idle!

hmm interesting, my truck has a rattle and pulse which i think is coming from the exhaust...pics would be nice
