Turn Signal/flashers Problem

My '97 Chev K1500 Suburban has decided that it doesn't want to let the turn signals or hazards work on occasion. It seems to happen when the truck has been running for a while, they usually work when it's cold.

Do both systems run off the same flasher, or do they have separate flashers? Where might the flasher be located?

I'm hoping it's not the multifunction switch in the steering column, that job looks pretty complicated.

Try replacing the flasher first, sometimes they wiggle loose or go bad... I destroyed mine by hitting a tree... which is weird. But try that little 10 dollar fix first, Do your headlights always work? On the older trucks there was a large electrical load on the headlamp switch, which is why they sell replacement wire kits now.. Could be the switch itself, does it seem physically damaged at all?

I just spent a week dealing with a similar problem. I suggest checking the fuses, then busting into the colum its not as hard as it sounds. Just get the colum pulling tool from advance or some other tool loan program. replace the entire switch assembly. Yeah mine was a 86 but with a good Haynes/Chilton manual it should not be that hard.My wiring problem
