How Safe Is The Hypertech Trans Tune?

Yesterday I decided to try the Hypertech Trans Firmness tune on my GMT-900 5.3L Silverado. Was I surprised! It drives like a whole new truck now. I changed to the high octane tune a few months back when I bought it, and noticed a moderate increase in power but did get better MPG, so the performance tune did help some, but when I changed the shift firmness yesterday it made a world of difference. Now it doesn't feel like it's losing power between 1st-2nd. If this is anything close to what BlackBear tunes do, I need to start saving now.

My only concern is the wear and tear that it might place on the trans. I plan on keeping this truck for a long time, and don't want to change something that might screw up the trans. Anyone have any insight on this? Is this safe to run all the time? Thanks in advance.

the way i look at it is this...the stock trans tune was built to hold the stock trans together for as long as possible..by altering the tune you may be risking more wear and tear, solution...add some mild uppgrades to the stock trans just incase...i'm no expert but thats just the way i see things

i would recommend installing a Trans Go HD-2 shift kit, Vette servo, and a good tune. sell the programmer to off set the cost..

good luck

We raise the line pressure enough to stop the trans from slipping which generally helps the trans last longer because the clutch packs don't wear out as fast. Transmission tolerances vary from one to another even on the same make and year vehicles. We get some customers that say the shift firmness is too hard and others that say that the firmness is not firm enough. We stop at a safe adjustment to prevent any damage to components.
