Outter Door Molding Coming Off 06 Denali

2006 denali xl

Outter door molding, the denali specific stuff along the bottom of the doors, is starting to pull away at the front of the drivers and passengers front doors.

As a result it is impacting the body panel directly in-front of the door so you can't open the drivers door very far.

It did it right before Turkey day and we needed the truck for the weekend so I attempted a quick fix with the "super sticky 3m tape that is supposed to be the bomb". It worked for about 1 week and now its happening again.

Called an auto body place; they said to bring it in and they would give a 'quick fix' a try. If that doesn't hold he stated that would need to order in new panels as once they start to curl they aren't good anymore. (thats the part that sounds fishy to me)

Personally, I'm not to fired up about new panels + paint + remove old ones + install

Anyone else hear of this or had it happen? I'm up north where it gets very cold, dunno if that matters.

or am I being forced down the debadging path on a denali

it kinda sucks, definately not making the wife happy (recall this was the same denali that needed the $704 heater fix a couple weeks ago)

the attached pic has a red arrow pointing to where the molding is starting to separate from the door

any thoughts would be appreciated, going all the all new molding route seems a bit extreme so I'd like to get some input from others

thanks
