Another Leveling Question

Hi guys, new to the forum but on my 4th Silverado. I pick it up this Wednesday (12/15--Merry Christmas to me, lol) & I am trying to decide whether or not to level the front. I have been reading all the leveling threads and it seems that the 2" level on the front is the way to go and what everyone is doing. I just have a couple of questions:

1. Will it affect the factory handling, braking or ride in any way?

2. Do I just buy the 2" level kit for the front and install it? Do I need any additional items in order to do this?

3. I see Rough Country on almost all the trucks here, so that is what I am going to buy. Anything other brands I should look at?

I just want to level it out. I don't care about putting anything on the rear. So as long as these 2" blocks will level it out, that is all I am looking for.

I'll take some pics & post them as soon as get the truck all done. Putting a bedrug (love them, had them on my last 2 Silverados), Corsa Sport (had them on my last 3 Chevys), some vent visors, tint and probably the level kit.

Thanks for any help!

1) no it doesn't

2) yes, that us all you do

3) RC is good, but all kits do the same thing. I would just buy the cheapest. I like my CCM 2.5" and a lot of people run these as well. I first had a daystar 2" kit that was ok.

4) these are 1.25" blocks, not 2". A 2" to 2.5" leveling kit will level it fine with nothing needed in the rear. I have a 3" block (with about 1" of rake) so my rear don't sag when towing my boat.

5) and not directed to OP, but I wish some one would list a "sticky" thread on leveling kits, brands, price etc.... I used to have a subscription to the forum "suspension and modification", but I got tired of it emailing me every new topic and 95% asked the exact same questions about what is the best brand, and does it effect handling, and does it wear the front end suspension faster, and so on, and so on.

+1, I didn't want to be a pain in the butt asking the same type of question, but I searched and couldn't find the answers to all my questions. Thanks again for taking the time to answer them.

So, just to be clear, just order the RC 2" front level kit and I will be all set right?

Also, since this seems like such a hot topic, there should be a sticky for this.

Yeah order the RC 2" and your Good to Go.

You won't get screamed at on this site for posting a question that's been asked before like on some other sites. I posted some repeat questions when I was deciding on lifts because I just wanted to make sure. I searched and found a lot of information but I still wanted to be sure.

Yeah, it is, and again it wasn't directed to you. I just wonder if some peoe really search, or not. There has to be 1,000,000,000,001 posts asking about the RC leveling kit, or leveling kits in general, and they are always the same answer.

Yes, order the RC leveling kit, or any other leveling kit for that matter and you are good to go. It will level your front even with the rear. I think most people go with RC because of price and ease of installation. All they are are spacers that go on top of the strut. Some other kits have a 1" top spacer and a 1" bottom spacer. In the end, they all put about the same strain on front end suspension. Like I said, I have the ccm 2.5" from eBay for about $75 shipped for the extra .5" of lift. Many people run them with no issues. You can go to eBay and look at some kits and see that they are all mainly the same design, so brand doesnt matter much. Just don't go 3" or anything. Anything over a 2.5" is hell on your CV's. Most people like the 2" because they think it isn't as much stress on the front end as the 2.5". There are several people, myself included, with the 2.5" with no problems.

Hope this helps.

This is a video of me installing the RC kit. It was very easy and took a little over an hour this way.

Thanks for the vid, I saw it on one of your other posts doing a search. I have a good friend who puts all my stuff on for me. I am one of those guys who isn't very handy--anytime I try to fix anything, I make it worse.
