Used Tires?

So I've been saving up to buy some 35's and I have been looking on Craigslist. I just found a pair for 100 bucks! . so here are my questions.

1) If the tires have uneven wear will it cause damage to the truck.

2) The owner of the tires did not mark them right, left, or front back when he took them off. If the tires are put on in a different direction/side than they were originally will they separate and cause issues?

No issue using "used" tires, if the directions different/warn... they will hum more down the road, but it won't hurt anything.

 

Be sure to check the age of the tires.

They are BFG's is there a code stamped on the tire to tell me when they were manufactured?

I posed that question to another forum, because I have 2 used tires and wanted to reuse them and buy 2 new ones of the same. Due to risk of damage to the transfer case in 4WD, I was told:

 

1. The tire shop refuses to mix new and old tires. They will sell me 2 new ones, but will not mount mixed new and used. That is their store policy, due to risk of damaging the transfer case. They will not budge.

2. Many tire shops use 4/32" tread depth difference as the cutoff, and some stop at 3/32". My used tires were almost 1/4" (8/32") worn down in spots compared to brand new ones, so no go.

3. Per some GM manual, test your tire combo for same circumference: "Place a piece of tape on the sidewall of each tire at dead center bottom, roll the truck ahead 10 full revolutions of the left front tire, and if any tire's tape mark varies by more than ONE inch from being dead center bottom, then that combination can't be run without fear of damage when using 4wd. "
