1996 Silverado

have 1996 silverado 1500 z71, it has push button 4x4, was out plowing Thursday morning and 4x4 stopped working in it and it also blew 5 fuses. saturday went to advance auto got new actuator. put it in and still blew fuses. tried removing actuator, plugged into harness, and it fully actuates without blowing a fuse. disconnected the 3 wire return line wiring that is above the differental actuator, no longer blows fuse and it goes in to 4wd, the 4wd light flashes, so I did get it to work for now,

 

I tried to to remove this 3 wire where it attaches to the differential cannot see how this is removed, anyone know how? also thinking as recommended to megohm test the 3 wires.

Alot of the pre-'99 folks hang out in the classic area, you'll most likely have better luck there with getting answers, instead of having it just sit here and sink to no-man's land with no answers whatsoever.

a megger might be an over kill lol just use a normal multimeter. For as your problem how cold is it? just cause mine will flash at me if its really effin cold and will not engage. just check the resistivity of your connections could be a short some where im not sure. but ya thats the only time its happened to me
