Hydroboost?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and had a question. I have a 2002 Sierra 1500HD. The power steering is leaking form one of the hoses. It looks like it is the one that comes out the back of the steering box and goes up towards the radiator...maybe to a cooler?

Anyway, I thought I'd replace the hi pressure and the return line at the same time. Looking on line, there are 2 hi pressure lines available, one with hydroboost and one with conventional system. Anyway how to tell which system I have?

Any help would be great

If you have a brake booster behind the master cylinder you have the conventional system. If you have a hydroboost system it will have power steering hoses running to the unit behind the master cylinder.

^what he said.... hydroboost uses the power steering pump to power the brakes also instead of vacuum like a conventional power brake system
