Chrome Door Handle

Hi Everyone!

Just joined here and I have a question. I have a 2008 Yukon Denali XL that I purchased used about 2 weeks ago and is just outside of the 3 yr, 36,000 mile warranty. The other day the driver's side door handle broke away from the door. I thought I heard about a TSB or something regarding this issue. Has anyone else heard of this problem or has anyone else had this issue? Would this still be covered even though the warranty has expired? If there is a TSB on it, could someone tell me where I can find a copy to bring to the dealership? It only has 28,400 miles on it, but was put into service in Nov of 07. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!!!

Even if there is a TSB, if your out of the warranty period they do not have to cover it. Will they? Maybe, personally I wouldnt expect them to. Maybe if you call gm customer assistance you may get them to cover some of it.

My parents had a 2000 Blazer that was 1 month (had like 23K miles) out of warranty and had the 4wd encoder motor go out. Part was like $500 plus labor. Best they go was gm covered half of the bill.

Before taking it in you should call the dealer and see what they will do for you before taking it in. Otherwise you could look online and find a replacement fairly reasonable.

tsb does NOT equal recall

you bought a vehicle that you know was not covered under a warranty and I'm pretty sure you refused an extended warranty at the time of purchase, that was a gamble you took - just fix it and hope that any other repair costs don't add up to the cost of the extended warranty or you lost the gamble.

Call them and get what you can, some help is better than none.

That said, I personally wouldnt be disappointed if they did nothing.

I wouldn't kick yourself on not having an ex warrantanty either. They are profit for whoever sells them. THey don't do it out of the goodness of their hea.rt. Sure one truck you might come out better on a warranty, but over your lifetime you probably won't. Unless you are just some real unlucky dude!

It's really only about a $40 part and an hour of your time.
