Replacing Keyed Locks On Nbs Silverado

Recommended Posts

I was fortunate enough to have someone pop the lock on my 2007 Silverado and steal all of my loot inside. Does anyone have any advice on how to change the keyed lock? Do I have to change the keyed ignition to match?

It really easy to do, all you need to do is buy a replacement door lock. For the GMT900 it was around 80 bucks.

1. Take the door panel off

2. Un-bolt the door handle (2 screws)

3. Take the c-clip off the lock and you now have the key cylinder

4. When you buy a new lock it comes with a bunch of numbered plates

5. Take them out one at a time on the old lock and use the correct numbered plate in the right slot of the new lock. (So you have like 6 slots in the lock, 3 on one side and 3 on the other. You may have like 2-1-4 on one side and then 3-4-2 on the other) IF you get it right the key will turn the lock cylinder.

You just need a new lock cylinder and possible a new door handle depending on the damage they did to yours. Install some jimmi jammers as well so that won't happen again, but then they'll just break the glass. www.jimmijammer.com theft deterrents

Another option is no keyed handles, (rear door handles). Switch the clip from the old to new, and an alarm with a bright led light on dash.
