Changing Software Parameters

I am wondering if GM techs are allowed to change the software parameters for things like cruise control sensitivites and AFM and the like. Recently took a long highway trip and found the cruise would gear down very quickly in relation to a speed change. I have read that it can be done with aftermarket programmers but its not worth losing the warranty for me.

I work as a service tech for John Deere equipment and a big part of my job manually tuning some aspects of software to best suit each customer and am wondering why my GM dealer is unwilling (or unable?) to do this.

Thanks,

Dave

Might be possible with a PC tuning software. I'd love to mess with the cruise feature on mine. If possible, I'd remove the downshifting fully from the cruise parameters. All downshifting to third does on a hill is annoy me and waste fuel.

why would you ever dick around with something like cruise, its not safe

It seems to be more aggressive than any other vehicle I have owned, (throttles up very aggresively to a speed change) and I would prefer to have a few Km/Hr buffer in my cruise setting, ie; set it to 10Km/Hr and it will allow the vehicle to travel 97 - 103, depending on the grade of the road.

But its not going to ruin the truck for me, I was just curious.
