2006 Silverado 5.3 With No Power

Guys, I need help. I went out today and the truck drove the way it always does, great. When I was getting ready to come home, I started the truck, put in reverse and tried backing out. It started to move, but not at the normal rate. I put it in drive and tried going forward and the truck moved, but again much slower than normal at that throttle pressure. The tranny then immediately shifted into second then 3rd and OD before I even got to 20mph. I pulled over and checked to see if the tranny fluid was ok. It was. When I pulled out, all power was restored. I hit the gas and the tires broke loose. I thought I was now good. Came to a stop sign, turned the corner and accelerated, same issue.

I continued to drive like this in hopes of being able to get home. At one stop light, I accelerated and it seemed normal. I floored it and the truck down shifted and took off. When the trouble was there, I floored it, and the truck gradually accelerated but never shifted. This was the first time I have had any issues whatsoever with the truck. I was able to get home 45 miles without issue.

All fluids were replaced according to recommendations.

According to Justin at BlackBear, he said my tranny was responding much like one with 40k miles on it. He said this 1.5 years ago when I had 80k. I am about 100k now.

Any ideas on if this was a fluke or do I need some service? Thanks. BTW, the truck is in the garage with the battery disconnected in hopes that the computer just needs resetting.

The truck has been fine before the tune and after the tune until today. My tune was done in July of 2009 and 20k miles ago. The shift points are harder, which should be better on the tranny and the clutches because I've limited the amount of slip on them.

sounds electronic. If you don't have a code reader, take it to Autozone and have them do it for you. See what that may unveil. Otherwise a mechanic should be able to hook it up to their computer and figure it out. With these computer controlled vehicles nowadays, it's almost always electrical problems and not mechanical.

I agree with the guys above. Take it to the dealer and have them use the reader on it. It's like 35 bucks and they will be able to tell you exactly what's wrong. Once they tell you either fix it yourself or take it to an independent mechanic you trust and have them fix it.

On a side not, your truck looks great!

After I got my gears switched to 4.10, I tried to use my hypertec programmer to reset my speedometer and shift points. The condition you're describing is exactly what happened to me, when I would get going it would run through all four gears under 20 mph. I definitely say its electrical or computer related.
