Need Help Fixing Front And Rear Bumper!

Hey everyone,

I posted this on the denali forums, but there aren't near as many individuals on that forum, so I thought I would ask for help here as well.

Starting off... I recently purchased my Denali a little while, knowing that it had a little body damage.

I got a couple quotes from body shops and too be honest, I think their quotes are pretty outrageous.

So I was wondering if someone could shoot me in the right direction to possibly purchasing the new front bumper piece that I need as well as the correct rear piece of the bumper. I think the rear bumper will still need a little bit of more work to fix the tailgate and rear quarter, but the paper work I received for that work was rather low compared to the actual bumper.

Advice is certainly appreciated. I am pretty sure I can replace the front bumper by myself as well as the rear with common hand tools.

You "MAY" need a new step pad on the right side as well. I have seen some at work (repos/lease returns) that were hit in the back and fixed, but the step pad wasn't replaced. Who knows what it looked like before, or how long the plastic sat before it was fixed, but some of them the plastic is permanently warped and never sits flush. Looks pretty ugly. You'll know when you get the bumper off. Just take off the step pad and see if it will sit flat or not.

Replacing the parts will take a little more then just common hand tools. The bumper pieces that you need to replace are all riveted in so you have to drill out all the rivets to remove them. Plus you have to make sure all the brackets are straight also.

I was going to replace my chrome bumpers on my old 07 Sierra to painted to match and after looking at all the work that is involved it went a different route to get them painted.

That's not exactly what I wanted to hear...what do you mean by "drill out the rivets"?

If I could ask, What did they quote you for fixing both bumpers? You can PM me if you want. I got prices also we I was going to get my stuff on my sierra swapped out, so I could compare for you.

There is also some rivets on the front bumper and all the brackets too. The 07 and up trucks, they made the bumpers alot harder to work on with the rivets and random brackets on them.

The may not be as outrageous as you think. There are not many bumpers out there in junk yards and as take offs so they were probably quoting OEM replacement parts. I know that all of the bumper components for the rear bumper of my truck (GMT900 Silverado) is over $1500 in parts alone. The bumper on your Yukon looks similar....

You only have to do the rivets etc. if you plan on replacing JUST the part of the bumper that is dented. If you replace the whole bumper itself, you won't need to rivet anything. But, obviously the part will be more expensive, and the cost to paint will be increased as well. If you want OEM part numbers, I can get them tomorrow if you wish. Just let me know exactly what you want part numbers for, because Wednesday is my last day there.

If you could get me part numbers for the front and not the rear, I would appreciate it. It seems like the rear is going to be something that a body shop will need to fix because of the rear fender also being off.
