Torque Management.. .

Anyone ever get a tune from say Black Bear or anyone else, and remove some or all of the torqe management , AND THEN actually run the 1/4 mile or Dyno a before and after ?

I keep reading over and over how removing torqe management makes your truck SOOOO much faster, but nobody has a before and after dyno or 1/4 mile ...

I wouldn't say it makes it SOOO much faster, but just a nicer shift. Engine timing and the fuel ratio part of the tune is where you get you power off the line and thus better 1/4 mile times. Of course TM does help.

I can't say I have dyno or stip numbers but I can say it makes a huge difference when you put the same trucks side by side. For example, my dad has a stock 2008 silverado and I have the same options, same drivetrain, same everything in a GMT 900 2007 silverado except Black Bear tuned. I had mine up on the rack last night doing a break job and took his to go get parts. That thing was a DOG compaired to mine. Throttle response stunk, shifts were boggy and crappy, it didn't slap the RPM's mine does at WOT, and it had the dumb AFM on it (I forgot how much I hated it).

TM is not the most important aspects to a tune, him on a computer in you passenger seat is. Well now with autocal he can do the same thing hundred of miles away.

If you are here to flame Black Bear good luck. That statement won't make it far.

EDIT: Oh and there are documented dyno's. Look on YouTube.

I'm not here to flame black bear or anyone , I'm just looking for dyno numbers or 1/4 mile times, if they're on youtube, then I'll check there.

If it actually adds hp, or 1/4 time, I'm going to buy one, if I can't find anything, I won't buy one, I'm not 14 yrs old I could care less about "bashing" or "flaming"

again, if anyone has some slips post'em up, I wanna see the increase

From my limited tuning knowledge...

A custom tune enables Power Enrichment sooner. Many oem tunes have a built in delay system which will not let the ECM to go into PE mpde until certain parameters have been met. A tune eliminates some of these restrictions.

Torque Management is a subjective matter. There are definately tradeoffs with having it removed. GM's torque management is as more for driveability, comfort and reliability than it is for control over the engines power output. I found after my my blackbear tune that I actually like the 6spd WOT shifts better with TM left turned on. If it pulls timing to provide a smooth shift that is just fine for me. I do not drag race so I am not a fan of jerky shifts.

Even with WOT TM left on I can tell a significant difference in performance. It pulls much stronger and the shift points are custom tuned to my driving style. The other day I pulled up next to a Dodge quad cab with a hemi, he revved his engine so when the light turned green we had a friendly run up to 60mph. My 09 Crew Cab 5.3 6l80 3.42 Silverado had put 2 car lengths on him. The tune did not make my truck the local street king, but it is definatley a worthy upgrade.
