Putting Subs In The Z

I have a few components from systems in some other trucks that I want to put into my new Silverado. However, I have run into a problem. Well, it may be a problem, I dont know for sure. I have 2 10" subs that require a minimum of 1.0 cu. ft. of air space. I also have an under-seat box that is .66 ft of airspace per side. I was wondering. Is this gonna hurt anything? I know they probably wont perform as well, but will it damage them?

 

Would adding some poly-fiber mat to the inside of the box help it perform better?

 

Im not a stereo guru, so any input will help. Im also not looking for a window breaker. I just like a good clean, well-rounded sound to my music.

Should be fine,add the poly should make it sound a little better

DO you add that stuff loose or glue it to the sides?Im gonna run a downfire box.

+1 on the poly fill. just make a VERY loose nest around the outside walls of the chamber and stay off the sub itself. Wont take very much to make the sub think the box is bigger.No glue

No glue? How am I going to keep it off of the sub without glue? Its a downfire mind you so gravity will tend to pull the poly onto the sub, right? Maybe Im missing something. I dont know much about stereo systems other than what little experience ive had with my own trucks.

Does it matter what kindof stuff I use. I have some lofting material (stuffing for pillows and stuff) my wife had left over from some sewing projects. Will this work or do I need some kind of audio specific filling?

The same stuff that is used in pillow stuffing just strech it apart so its light & airy a little goes a long way

Ok, I read over on Crutchfield.com that I needed a little over 1 lb of the stuff in each box. Does that sound right?
