Antenna On Top

My aunt just bought a 2010 GMC Terrain. Her garage is a little low. The antenna on top bends each time she pull in or out of the garage. I was wondering a couple of things. This antenna that is on the top rear of the car, can you get a shorter one and replace it? And what is this antenna for...the regular radio? Sat radio? I'm not real sure..so thanks in advance.

  I am guessing that is good relatively speaking given that its probably a popular vacation spot and that usually means a captive market. Right now we are sitting at 1.73 a liter for regular and that would have ethanol in it as we don't have such a thing as no ethanol regular fuel it seems, and diesel at 1.80 a liter, priced in Canadian Pesos ......
