i did some search but nothing helped so im starting this one. i have an 01 ccsb 4x4 2500hd 6.0...has 120k miles on it and in the past 4 months it was making a popping noise when turned from full right back to left while being stationary...iu new my idler arm and bracket were in bad shape and figured it was just that...i changed them and and i also purchased pitman arm all from Moog...well didnt fix it. I changed my oil yesterday and had someone crank the wheel from full right then back left...notice pass. side upper control arm was moving on bolts...tightened them back down bout 1/8 turn on both...it went away..but im worried its gonna do it again....should i let it go or change the upper bushings with new bolts and nts with red lock tite.....any input would be great....thanks Eric

If the upper control arm bolts were loose, I would have an alignment done. The upper is the adjustment on those. If the bushings in the upper control arm are degraded and torn I would replace them first. If they look ok just the alignment. And make sure they tighten them.

I had the exact same problem, popping noise when turning near lock, jacked it up and found the upper control arm was freely moving on the adjustment bolts. I had the truck aligned in the spring and the alignment shop did not get the bolts tight. I took the truck back and they fixed it, it was WAY out of alignment with the tire flopping around.

the bushings looked visually sound, at least didnt look dry rottend and falling apart...gonna get it aligned after i change pitman arm, but if i have to change the bushings i dont wanna do it twice.....should i take the nuts off and lock tite em...or is that a bad idea....

bad idea imho...will create an issue for adjustment for alignment in the future. after you have it aligned go back yourself and torque to factory specs. i can get you torque specs from my haynes manual if you don't have one handy. pm me when that time comes and i'll go look it up...it's snowing right now and don't care to get outside to the garage to get it now...sorry...lol.
