How Long Does It Take After Ordering To Get A New Silverado?

:) Ordered a 2011 Chevy Extended Cab 4x4, 5.3 engine, 3.42 gearing on January 10th and now am wondering how long it will take for the thing to actually get to the dealer. Also does anyone have any insight in how long it will take to get the build date (and VIN that will come along with the build date paperwork)?

Sure hope I am not making a mistake as I really like the 3.73 gearing in my 2008 with the 4 speed automatic.

They are not taking very long at all lately,I just ordered a buddy of mine a new 1/2-ton crew-cab LTZ/6.2 on Dec.14th.....and it got built yesterday!

Now he just has to wait for it to be shipped from Mexico,Yours should be built at the Fort Wayne,In. plant.

You won't have a VIN until its actually built.

Do you have an order number from your dealer?

For me, it was 6-weeks to the day to take delivery. :)

Are you sure you don't want the 6.2L. Mileage is real close to the 5.3 but a whole lot more of power!

This is what I keep going back and forth on- I'd love to add the 6.2 but even without the NHT package it's like a $2300 option which depending on if the dealer is feeling generous or not may push past what I can negotiate out of the price. The truck I want with a 5.3 is just under $37k. The 6.2 makes it just under $40k. I won't be buying till summer so maybe by then gas will be higher and they'll play the game.

isn't the 6.2 L only available in crew cab ? at least it used to be.. anyone know for sure ? or it has to be LTZ trim right ?

6.2 can be had in extended cabs and LT/SLE trim (not sure about lower ones, I haven't tired to "build" one like that). It is a standalone option or it can be had with the NHT max tow pkg.

I ordered mine in mid April 2010 and got her by the very end of May 2010...it took 21 days on the see to get her from Mexico to Europe...about 5 weeks I think

Exactly,The 6.2 is now available on both crew and extended-cabs,and on both LT/SLE and LTZ/SLT trim levels.

It was '09 that it was only available on crew-cabs with the LTZ/SLT trim level.

You'll kick yourself if you don't get it. What option can you give up in-place of the 6.2L. :)

With all the discounts, incentives, and dealing, I got near $9000 off the sticker.

I totally missed your location- how common are American pickup trucks in Germany?

The 6.2 on my buddies truck is only a $1,070.00 option,However he ordered the LTZ trim level.

Yeah mine would be LT/SLE because I don't like the SUV dash as much and I don't much like leather as it's just too much work to keep it supple and nice (at least my old Jimmy was). I just checked again and it's just over $2k so I was off a bit but the expense is not only the engine but the significant cost savings the All Star or Power Tech package offers with bundling the interior upgrades, which I'd want.
