Rough Country Lift?

ok so i was thinking of doing the bds 6" but im having a lot of trouble shelling out 2500 for that good of a lift when it would be going on my 96 silverado 4x4 so i started looking into the rough country 6" because it is 1500 less does anyone run this lift and if so how is it and how good is the lft in general

RC 5" and 7.5" lift is $999.00. A local off road shop here says they have installed a ton of them and not one problem out of it. Of course the people that have the more $$$ kits will says its junk and u get what u pay for with no experience with it. This is from a nice shop that sells and installs all kits. So its not like they are trying to tell u what u want to hear to sell u a RC kit. When i talked to them they told me about all the other kits then i asked about the RC. Said stay away from 3" kit and everything else is good.

I don't believe RC has a 5" or 7.5" kit for the 88-98's. I have never heard anything bad about the older torsion bar kits from RC so I can't really comment on their quality. But RC's engineering as of late is subpar, and their customer service is lacking. You don't need any personal experience with the 7.5" kit to see that it's of lower quality. It's a 5" kit with a larger strut spacer. You have to cut off the droop stops to make it work and everything is maxed out. I know it's a stretch of the imagination but shops endorse what they get the best deal on at the time. They get incentives too. The shop where I bought my BDS used to say that Fabtech was the only thing going and that nothing else was any good. Then it changed to BDS. I installed my RC 3" kit and removed it and if that is any indicator of what that company produces then I don't want anything of theirs.

i have put on two of these kits there old version and the redesign from a couple years ago they are not to bad to put on took about a weekend and huge difference! both of my friends are still running them today and no problems on either!

is it compatible with a 3 in body lift if so which ones and should i go ahead and do the body lift to save on install cost in the long run or wait it out

Yes it is compatible with the body lift, i know its half the cost but are you going to put it on your self and what size tire are you trying to run?

ill be putting it on with a guy i know for about half the price of going to a shop (1000$) and im trying to go as big as i can while keeping the truck as my daily driver

you could but the rough country 6 in and 3 in body cheaper then the rcd. i know rough country has a lifetime warranty does rcd?

*******my addition - I had issues with the 3" premium... yay it was junk... they have on there they changed something again... not sure and dont care.... so many people have the 5 inch kit and like it with no issues they may have realized that they need to step it up... as for customer service... i accomplished my refund, took a month or so but i got it. Bank issues because of a mistake on their/my part....

I dunno i get mixed feelings with this company....

I had no luck with their customer service regarding a return or part assistance. I was told to go and buy new ball joints after 8 weeks on the truck. Top shelf lifetime warranty right there.

Agreed... I had mine on a year... I called and said my ball joints went bad. They asked for a phone number and stuck me on hold... 10 min later came on and said they are in the mail.

When I took the kit off because it wouldnt stay aligned. I worked with them to try and keep it aligned. I was told no one had that problem. I gave them links to here and said REALLY?

They said take the kit off and they would refund my money less the levelling kit i needed which they shipped fast. Customer service was not to bad, the return was hectic. I had the kit a year and my bank changed cards. I said Im ready to ship back took a week to get the call tags then they refunded the money to my card I used to purchase (debit card) which was no longer active. Took weeks to get it all straightened out. Really it was the banks fault but Rough Country didnt make it enjoyable with the lack of caring they showed.
