Wearing Outer Edge of Front Tires??

Recommended Posts

Posted

My truck seems to wear the outer edge of my front tires. Is this normal for these trucks?? I had my front end aligned and my tires rotated, and it looks like the fronts are starting to wear the edge again?

Any info is appreciated!!

Thanks!

sounds like an alignment issue to me.  If you rotated the tires, got an alignment and they are still doing it something is not quite right.  I'd say try another shop first to see if that's your problem.

My only other thought is that you're flying around turns at 90 mph and screeching your tires, that'll do it too.

You might want to add a little air in the tires.  I initially ran 35psi on my 285 BFGs and they started to wear on the edges a lot.  I increased to 45psi and they seem to wear more evenly now.

I used to take corners rather hard in my previous trucks (leases  )  That caused the same thing on my trucks.

The front corners on mine start to show feathering about 3k.  I corner pretty agressively.   If you don't corner agressively, or have more than 5k since the last tire rotation, I would have the tires rotated. Many places will check the alignment for free.  If that is the case, have them check it for you.
