Upgrading Shocks...Which to choose??

Recommended Posts

Good day everyone, I have a question, or rather a poll.  I would like to know which shocks are preferred?  I want to upgrade the shocks on my 2000 Silverado Z71, and I am not sure which brand to use.  I am looking for something that is aggressive off the road, but not necessarily a shock made specifically for rock crawling or bogging.  I will still need to drive to work, so I would like an all around shock.  Here are some of the brands that I am thinking about:

Doetsch Tech HV1, Bilstein, Pro-Comp monotube, Rancho 9000

Since I am sure that many of you guys are out there are veterans and have tried most of these brands out, please give me your honest and professional opinions.  Also has anyone had any experience with the Doetsch Tech suspension lifts for a 2000 Chevy Silverado, it looks nice, but does it function well?? Thanks.

2000 Silverado Z71 Xtended Cab 4WD

1.5" Torsion bar crank

295x75x16 BFG ATs

K&N Cone filter charger kit

4.10 Gears (Precision)

EGR mod

MAF screen mod

Polyurethane bushings kit

Plenty of mud clods

I would almost save the 200 bucks right now and put it towards the lift.  You're going to need new shocks when you do the lift anyways.

I had RS9000's and no complaints here, 15,000 miles on them and a nice smooth ride.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking as well, but I am not sure when exactly I will be getting the lift.  And when I do, the lift of choice will be Rancho, so I guess it makes sense. Sometimes  I need to hear it from someone else before it makes sense.  Thanks for the advice.
