Rattles from passenger side

I have heard a ton of rattling and sqeaks, etc... from the passenger side of my 2000 truck. I took it in and the dealeship said it was stuff in my glovebox. It's funny, but with my glove box empty I still hear the  same sounds but they claim they don't. Should I buy them a BelTone, does anyone else have this problem. Things I should check?

i had a LOUD rattle which the dealership supposedly fixed (loose striker).  Well they were unable to fix it so last friday i fixed it myself.  It was coming from the very top righthand corner (close to the ext cab door).

I took the door panel off and in the corner added some foam and 3m tape.  Noise gone!!!

fennsz, there's a TSB covered door rattle, which only occurrs when the window is down - my passenger side had this issue.  Also, common other ones are loose front and 3rd door latches.  I personally have never had good luck getting dealer service depts to properly align doors and tighten latches and strike plates!

Hope this helps.

foam works well

I want to be an interior designer for gm.  I could greatly improve their designs

Don't know what else to tell you about the squeak, but when I take my truck to the dealer, I take everything out of the glove box, console, tool box, etc.  That way they can't say it was something in there.  They did once, and I told them to look again because they are empty.

Another thing, take one of the techs (preferably the one who will be working on your truck) or the service manager for a ride in your truck, and point out to them the noise.  That way you know someone else heard it.  :thumb:

I've done that too.

My driver side door was rattleing with the window fully down. If I put the window up even the slightest amount it wouldn;t rattle.

So I took the panel off and tightnened the bolt at the bottom that holds the window tract in place.  Problem Solved.

I guess it could have been a gradual thing due to the offroading and the 285 mud terrains I used to have (vibrations), however it happended shortly after I installed my Escalade Exterior door handles, so I could have caused it to happen.

Oh well, it was a simple as tightening a bolt.

The exact same thing happened to my drivers side window.  It was a loose regulater and the dealer tightened the bolts up.  The rattle started with about 6k miles of on road driving showing on the odometer.  They fixed it with 7k miles showing and I have put another 500 miles on since then and it hasn't come back yet.
