to all of you who complain about the range on your command start.....i complain about it to... but really think about it???? how often are you more than 100ft from your truck at any part of the day???/ so why do you really need a mile range?? i used to have a command start that would start from the back of any large retail store in town.....and to be honest that only came in handy about twice a year....... what i would really like with gm command starts is unlimited starts with the remote...... i hate the two start thing and then having to cycle the ignition,,,,,,

just my opinion but if you think about i bet im right.......lol

What I do love about it is that I don't have to remember to turn on the heat or AC the truck just automatically turns on what ever is needed based on the temp, I also like the fact that when its cold it turns on the rear window defroster and mirror heaters as well, its nice to get in the truck and have clear mirrors and windows.

The only thing bad is the short range. The 20 minute run time does not bother me at all, thats long enough.

20 min=10min X2

I can't really think of why I would want to start it more than twice without cycling the ignition...

I plan to get the OEM remote start and 100ft range is plenty. I wouldn't remote start if I can't see it. Doesn't make sense to me. I'm sure someone will say otherwise but to each their own. I also wouldn't let it run more than the OEM will allow as that doesn't make sense to me either.

I have to park in a parking lot 3/4 mile away from the "dry" or changing room at the Iron Mine I work at. after a 12 hour afternoon or night shift dripping wet covered in grease, it's nice to get into a warm truck after a hot shower when it's 10 degrees out. This is why I got a long range starter.

Well I work out in the elements too and would not remote start my truck from somewhere I couldn't see it. I guess I'm lucky my "dry" room is much closer than yours.

I'm a lot further away than 100' where I work. Hell, my truck is at the limit sometimes at my own house.

I'd start it in a heartbeat without being able to see it too.

Oh, and for the 10 minute thing? Makes me want to poke somebody in the eye. My truck barely gets warm in 10 minutes. On really cold/wet/windy/snowy/icy days like the last couple of days, I just walk all the way out there and start the thing with the key 20-30 minutes before I'm to leave.

Just wondering, do those of you that experience short range on your remote starts have the same short range with the door lock / unlock function?

Posted
Yup. That part doesn't really bother me though.

That is strange, my door lock function works up to 100 yards away. That is the farthest I have tried it walking away wondering if I locked it or not.

The range is different if you are approaching the truck from the front or the rear, if my truck is parked so the the back of the truck is facing me I get only 100 yards or so of range, if the front of the truck is facing me I get double that or more, around 200 to 300 yds or so (I have never actually measured it)

I would guess it is all about the antenna location.

No, your not right, but that's my opinion....lol

Most of the time when I want to use mine I'm always more than 100ft away, much more. I don't even use it at home as it is garaged. When I'm around the mall either eating lunch or dinner I was almost always out of range. Then you wouldn't have a clue if it started or not and would have to walk to the nearest window and see. 99% of the time it was too far away. I guess if you got to park in the handicapped parking all the time it would be great.

Now all I have to do is look at my remote while sitting at my table and I know it started. I've had aftermarket remotes since the early 90's and even the worse one was better than my factory Gm.

This clifford is so much better than the factory it's almost laughable. JMHO
