Tread Wear

Recommended Posts

I think I have some seriously odd tread wear going on with my tires.  My front passenger tire is almost completely flat in the middle whereas the driver side fron tire is still good on tread.  I have checked the tire pressure over and over and it is set to the cold tire pressure reading on the door of the truck (the # escapes me right now).  Anyways, I was wondering if it has to do with my torsion bars at all because after getting it back from the dealership, one of the bars was cranked up really high and the other one was cranked down but they were really close in actual height from the ground.  Any ideas about this or should i take it to the dealership to take a look at?   ???  ???

I'd take it to the dealer.

Generally tread wear in the center of the tire means it is over inflated.  Since you say that both tires are inflated the same, then I would have to say it is an alignment problem on the right front.  I'm not saying that the tires aren't still over inflated, but they should wear the same...  In a lot of cases the cold tire pressure is the max. number and is too much air for a vehicle that isn't carrying a load.  For example: my HD calls for 80 psi cold.  I run 50-55 psi for everyday driving.  I know this is a good pressure to run because after I pull off a dirt road and run about 1/4 mile on pavement, the bottom of the tire is cleaned of all dust except for the very inner and outer edges (1/2" or less).
