My Deal on Duelers

The continuing search for tires came to an end. After checking around a number of places and the web, I was basically looking at Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's, Michelin LTX M/S, or Goodyear Wrangler ATS. The Michelins proved to be pricey everywhere I looked. The Goodyears I didn't do too much browsing at. The Duelers were $815.73 from my regular shop, $776.74 at Sears, $603.48 at Conrad's(Goodyear dealer). Went into a Firestone shop near work while working(uniform), and dropped the name of a friend, doubt it did me much because his price was $777. Anyway, was rushing around after being held over at work. Went to the Firestone shop near the house to get a look at the Duelers again to see if I liked the pattern. Guy went through my needs and recommended them. Then he offered the 4 for 3 special that had just ended. Got 4, lifetime balancing, lifetime rotation, road hazard, and a treadlife warranty- which no other place would offer for $587.34. I was a bit iffy about Bridgestones, but the wet traction and treadlife are supposed to be good, and at that price I don't think I can complain.

That sounds like a great deal!!!  I had the duelers on my '00 1500 Silverado after I traded in my new OE stock Firestones on them.  I thought they were very good tires...  I bought the LT tires for a little more sidewall strength.  They rode rougher because of that, but I was more confident when loading the truck.

Can't speak directly for the ATs, but for what it's worth, I like my Dueler H/Ls a lot!  Great in rain-covered roads; decent in snow, great in slush.  Wear is outstanding.  They're not an off-road tire, however.

 

I'd expect the wear to also be great for the ATs as well. I may go AT when these finally wear out, so I'd be curious how yours perform - keep us posted, please!

 

Also, Bridgestone only owns Firestone - the Duelers are not made on the same lines and plants as the Wilderness ATs and it's different technology, so don't let that association bother your choice!

Sweet sweet.  I did get the LT rated vs. the passengers that my factory stones were.  Went with these due to being aggressive, but still reasonable for mileage and ride quality.  The autotrac will do the job nicely in the snow with any relatively good tire, so I wasn't too concerned there.  And with 39,200 and change on the factory rubber, I can't really complain about Firestone except the wet traction...but that's due to all that power in the back end without a locker and with not much weight.

That sounds like a great deal Bill.  Glad to hear you got some new treads on finally, I know you were talking about doing that when you were here in Vegas.  Let us know how they perform. :thumb:

Nah, didn't get them on yet as I went into the shop with about 5-10 minutes left before closing:).  They also said that they sold a set earlier and would have to order them, but they were due to have them tomorrow or so.  A bit of a busy few days for me, so probably Wednesday afternoon I think...Grandma is having hip surgery in the am Wed...she fell at the Honda dealer as I held the door open for her a few months back and she didn't see the step up.  After some time trying a chiropractor(not my suggestion to say the least) with no results, she went to an orthopaedic and realized that the cartilege was worn down to next to nothing.  Maybe I'll manage to get in for the new treads in the afternoon.  Pictures and the evaluation to follow.

I feel lucky about the Bridgestone AT Revo too.  I will pick up my new Tahoe with the Firestone 265/70 stocks on it this weekend.  I dont like the stock tires so I called the Firestone tire vender in my area (DC) and the manager says will swap out my 5 stock 265's for 5 B-stone AT Revo's for $250 (mounted and balanced).  I fell like I did pretty good.
