Factory Warranty With Leveling Kit

I just purchased 2011 ext cab z71 silverado. I have also purchased a tuff country 2" leveling kit that I have yet to install. Does anyone know if the leveling kit will void the factory warranty on my silverado? Also in the directions for installing the kit it says to switch the driverside and passenger side struts. Is that really necessary?

I've heard you are supposed to switch the struts with some leveling kits (not all of them for some reason). And yes, the leveling kit will more than likely void your warranty on your "front suspension" parts (ball joints, UCA's etc...) because you are altering the angles and stress on them.

That is another option depending on what size tires youre running with the leveling kit. Stock, then yes. 33" would look a little obvious when you can't even turn into the dealership because your tires rub so bad. Would be a pain in the ass, but worth it depending on how much it saved you.

Ditto. With my kit I didn't have to cut the top strut studs so the mod is completely reversible. But mine's an '07 so the only warranty left on it is the 5-year powertrain.

i had a wheel bearing go and a pinion seal leak with a 3" body lift and 34s on the truck and they did it under warranty- granted it might be different since i had an aftermarket one.

Yeah, but a body lift has nothing to do with the suspension, all you did was lift the body off of the frame. They should have covered that under warranty. You didnt alter the suspension with the body lift. A leveling kit puts more of an angle on the axle/ball joints etc... causing them to wear faster. I would guarantee no dealership would fix ball joints or anything else front end suspension wise under warranty if you have, or they can tell you had, a levelig kit on there.

 

 

Unless you were in really good with the dealership, then maybe. Even still, I doubt most dealerships would take the risk.

yeah i know but i figured the torsion bars are also cranked- which adds stress just like leveling kit. and im sure larger tires could have been blamed for the bearing.
