2011 5.3 6speed Auto.

Colorado 2011 5.3 and 2011 5.3 W/6SPD.Same engine? What are the mechanical differences? thanks

the 5.3 in the colorado is toned down a bit and has the 4 speed mounted to it..over all the silverado/6 speed is the stronger combo...let alone the half ton rear end is better

Is a custom tune traceable on a 2011 coly? It will go with the 4.10 maybe more with tune,intake,k+n and exhaust.Wonder if factory purposely slowed his application of 5.3 down?

my theory is yes they toned the 5.3 down a bit so the colorado dosen't break....i'm almost positive a tune can be found easily on a toy truck just like fullsizes...i know somebody that has a 5.3/4.10s canyon and its got some zip but my fullsize gets better mileage and has more guts

They'll know as soon as the scanner is plugged in.

 

What is the rated HP and torque #s for the two? The 6 speed should feel much stronger on take off because of the lower 1st gear.

 

This isn't exactly apples to apples here.

i know the 5.3 in the coly/canyon is like 300 horse/335ish torque...my lm7 throws down more torque i know that much...the 5.3 in the toy trucks is also aluminum which isen't a big deal, but it is to some

My LMG equipped Silverado was rated at 315/335 ... so it definitely looks like they de-tuned the Coli a bit. Wonder if it's just by a rev-limit ... because the torque stayed the same ...

i don't know what they did to tone the colorado down, probably the factory tune...its safer that way as the colorado is not built as strong as the fullsizes let alone you don't need that much power in a truck that size
